The PrimaLuna EVO 100 Tube Power Amplifier is a benchmark stereo and mono tube power amplifier — delivering 40 to 42 watts per channel in stereo (82 to 84 watts in mono) through 4×EL34 output tubes, with Adaptive AutoBias technology, Triode/Ultra-Linear mode switching, custom super-wide-bandwidth output transformers, and meticulous point-to-point wiring using Swiss-made cable throughout, all in a 17kg chassis built to last for decades. Adaptive AutoBias is PrimaLuna’s proprietary real-time bias management system — a true, intelligent circuit employing an array of sensors that continuously monitors and adjusts tube bias seamlessly in the background, reducing distortion by over 50% at higher volumes by addressing tube pinch-off, extending tube lifespan significantly, and placing the entire process completely outside the signal path so there is no sonic compromise whatsoever. Point-to-point wiring with Swiss-made heavy-gauge cable runs every resistor, capacitor, and connection in the signal path by hand — eliminating the thin copper traces of printed circuit boards in favour of direct, craftsman-soldered connections that preserve signal purity at every stage, a construction standard that visibly and audibly sets PrimaLuna apart from the competition. Triode/Ultra-Linear mode switching gives you meaningful control over the amplifier’s sonic character — Ultra-Linear mode delivers the full 40 to 42 watts with maximum authority and bass slam, while Triode mode offers a softer, more intimate presentation for chamber music, vocal, and acoustic recordings, allowing the EVO 100 to adapt to your listening mood and musical programme. Robust transformer design uses custom potted toroidal power and output transformers wound in-house — the output transformers are custom-designed with super-wide bandwidth (12Hz–85kHz ±1dB) to deliver the bass extension and top-end air that defines PrimaLuna’s sound, while the toroidal power transformers radiate approximately one-tenth the magnetic field of standard transformers and are potted in non-microphonic resin for permanent protection against moisture and acoustic noise. Tube compatibility covers an exceptional range including 6L6G, 6L6GC, 7581A, EL34, EL37, 6550, KT66, KT77, KT88, KT90, and KT120 — with Adaptive AutoBias’s fine-tuning switch accommodating EL34 and KT88/KT120 types automatically, giving you a virtually unlimited palette of sonic options without any manual bias adjustment or technical intervention. Note: KT150 tubes are not compatible with the EVO 100. SmartWatts philosophy runs the output tubes at just 417 volts on plates and screens — a conservative operating point chosen deliberately to maximize tube longevity and eliminate cathode stripping, delivering 40 to 42 watts per channel from four tubes rather than the reckless extraction of maximum power that shortens tube life and compromises reliability, backed by a bad tube indicator LED that identifies any failing tube instantly without guesswork or service visits. Stereo and mono operation with speaker taps at 4, 8, and 16 ohms (stereo) and 2, 4, and 8 ohms (mono) gives the EVO 100 the flexibility to drive virtually any loudspeaker — from sensitive high-efficiency designs in Triode mode to demanding full-range speakers in Ultra-Linear, with the custom output transformers ensuring consistent bandwidth and control across all impedance taps.
